Malt Vinegar & Worcestershire Sauce Marinade

I forgot to take a picture sadly.

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons malt vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil

Mix all together* and pour over meat and marinade at least 8 hours. When done marinating throw the marinade away.

Notes*
I mix all ingredients in a plastic baggie and then add the meat so I have less to clean up.

Malt Vinegar & Worcestershire Grilled Pork Chops

Made these the other night and it is a definite keeper for the family recipe book!

Ingredients:
4 boneless pork chops 1/2" thick
Malt Vinegar & Worcestershire Sauce Marinade*

Directions:
Marinate the pork chops in the marinade for at least 8 hours to overnight.

I use an electric grill heated to med-high.
Spray the grill with a non-stick spray.
Place pork chops on the grill and cook 6 minutes on one side and 2 on the other or until the meat is cooked through.
Always make sure pork is cooked all the way because you can get sick if its not.
I always cut into one since every time you cook with an appliance it may heat differently.

Makes 2-4 servings

Note*
The Malt Vinegar & Worcestershire Sauce Marinade is in the next post.

Reheating Fried Chicken

Orange Dream Ice Cream w/ Orange Chocolate Pieces

I had a leftover orange chocolate candy ball leftover from the holidays in the freezer so added it to the ice cream which was an instant hit.

Ingredients:
Orange Dream Ice Cream* use the recipe in a previous post.
Orange flavored chocolate* broken into pieces

Directions:

Make the Orange Dream Ice Cream and when done stir in the orange flavored chocolate pieces. Freeze.

Makes 4-6 servings depending on appetites.

Notes*

I take a Terry's Milk Chocolate Orange and break up half of it into pieces.

Orange Dream Ice Cream

We have been playing with a new "toy" in the kitchen. We bought an electric ice cream maker and the boys have been willing test subjects. Orange Dream is a take on the Dreamcicle which is popular with the boys in the family.

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups heavy cream
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 cups orange juice*
1 cup sugar

Directions:
Mix together all ingredients then place in your ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturers directions.

It is a soft serve so freeze quickly.
Makes 4 to 6 servings depending on who is eating!

Notes* I used the Simply Orange brand because it is my favorite! But you can use what you like and even use fresh squeezed if you like.

Turkey Noodle Soup

Turkey Noodle Soup

Ingredients:

8 cups chicken broth
1 cup chopped celery
1 cup chopped carrots*
1 cup peas
2 teaspoons salt
¼ - 1 teaspoon ground pepper**
½ teaspoon ground turmeric
2 cups uncooked extra wide egg noodles
2-3 cups cooked chopped or shredded turkey***

Directions:

1. Heat the broth, celery, carrots, peas, salt, pepper, and turmeric in a 4 ½ quart pot on medium high heat to a boil.
2. Stir in the noodles and turkey, then reduce heat to medium.
3. Cook for 10 minutes or until the noodles are tender, stirring occasionally.

* I chopped up baby carrots, but you can use fresh whole carrots. Make sure you clean and peel the whole fresh carrots before you chop them.
**For the pepper, it is up to you how much bite you want to your soup.
***You can use cooked chicken instead of the turkey. Turkey is all I had on hand when making the soup.

Also season it to your taste! That is the most important thing, season it how you would like.

Blackberry Simple Syrup Lemonade

Blackberry Simple Syrup Lemonade

Ingredients for blackberry simple syrup:
1 cup sugar (200g)
1 cup water (250ml)
1 cup fresh blackberries (148g)

Directions for simple syrup:
1.       Add the sugar, water, and blackberries in a sauce pot and start it out on high.
2.       Let it boil for about 2 minutes or until the water turns a purple color.
3.       Bring the temperature down to a simmer and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
4.       Take it off the heat and let it stand for 20 minutes.
5.       Use a wire mesh strainer and strain the simple syrup into a glass bottle. *
6.       Put into the fridge to cool down.

*I strained my syrup first into a two-cup glass liquid measuring cup, that had a bowl underneath to catch any run off from pouring. I then poured it into a glass bottle. This way was so that I didn’t make a complete mess.

Ingredients for lemonade:
1 cup sugar (200g)
1 cup water (250ml)
1 cup fresh lemon juice (250ml)
6 cups water (1500ml)
Blackberry simple syrup

Directions for lemonade:
1.       Add the sugar, water, and lemon juice into a sauce pot.
2.       Let it boil for 1-2 minutes, or enough to make sure the sugar dissolves.
3.       Take it off the heat, let it rest for 10-20 minutes.
4.       Pour into pitcher.
5.       Add as much water as you want to the pitcher, this way the lemonade is to how you like it.
6.       After the simple syrup has cooled in the fridge, add it to the pitcher of lemonade.

Fill yourself up a glass of ice and Blackberry Simple Syrup Lemonade and then sit back, relax, and enjoy!
