Molasses Crinkle Cookies





Molasses Crinkle Cookies


Ingredients:

1 cup packed brown sugar

¾ cup shortening

¼ cup molasses

1 egg

2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

 1 teaspoon ground ginger

½ teaspoon ground cloves

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon ground allspice

¼ teaspoon salt

Granulated sugar

 

Directions:

·         Heat oven to 375 degrees F.

·         Mix brown sugar, shortening, molasses and egg in a mixing bowl.

·         Mix in flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, allspice and salt.

·         You can cover and refrigerate or wrap the dough up in parchment paper and let it sit overnight or a couple of days if needed.

·         Shape dough by rounded teaspoonful into balls (or disk shape).

·         Drop one side into sugar, then take out and place sugared sides up about 3 inches apart on lightly greased (or parchment paper lined) cookie sheet.

·         Bake 10 to 12 minutes, depending on your oven.

·         Remove immediately from cookie sheet, let cool.
